OH MY GOD!! the technique is awesome! I love the pose and how you drew the landscape<333 Kyoki looks so soft and fluffy in your style!!~~<3 this drawing made me smile! thank you very much for all!! <3333
Oh look, it's Maya! Okay, not quite but it's the same variety of canine. What is it with you and making fur look so soft that it would feel like silk if you touched it! Now if I can just get mine to do that. XD Anywho, I have to ask, how do you make shadows like that? Take the base color again and set it to multiply or something? I really love the pose. BTW. ^^
Lol I'm really glad you appreciate my fur - fur has long been my arch art nemesis so any potential improvement is an uber plus in my book! Haha well if you want I can stick a tutorial or something up - it's really easy, it's just using the smudge tool a great deal
As for the shadow, I am highly cheatish because I took the base layer of the wolf, copy and pasted it, then turned it upside down and distorted it in free transform to get that shape. I dont use multiply though - depending on the background it's best to set the shadow layer to either Soft Light, Overlay, or just have it black and move the opacity down. Depends what kind of shadow you're going for really ^^
Hows your computer doing now? All back and working again? ^^
I know what you mean. I've got the same problem with almost all forms of foliage. Hmmm... if the smudge is all there is to it, I think I can figure that out. Thanks for the offer though!^^ Now to create a style that's a combination of yours and cgsbgs's and I'll be good (even if I already use Chris's approach).
Ah, so that's your secret. Must try next time I do a ground-shadow, which unfortunately won't be tomorrow's piece.
My comp's doing great right now, no crashing, and working as fast as ever. The problem from before turned out to be... cat fur. Kept making the tower overheat. I think we're going to go ahead and try to find me a laptop pretty soon. For what I do and college next year, a laptop's probably the better choice. No doubt the first thing outta my brother's mouth is going to be "get a Mac," and learning to use one is going to be more trouble than its worth. I know WindowsXPs are pretty well made and have long lifespans, but do you or Monkey have any recommendation on what to look for?
BTW, to answer the part about my WMM on the journal, as far as I could see, mine is exactly the same version as Monkey's. XP And I was a little off, my comp isn't 9 or 10 years old, its at least 13 according to Dad. XD
No worries - best of luck! And if any mortal manages to reach even half the level of epic that cgsbgs has then they have officially asscended to the heavens as Gods XD I love watching him draw - have tried his methods many a time ^^
Dang a 13 year old computer - that's pretty immense. HAHA Cat fur! It's always the simple things that cause the problems with technology. Bad kitty XD
A Mac! Damnation! I agree wholeheartedly with you there - I had to use macs for my meagre year of art at uni and they're all show and nonexistant usability. Windows all the way! My XP is about 6 years old now, and still runs perfectly so I would have to recommend that. Monkey has an actual laptop which I believe is also an XP so on her behalf I recommend it twice XD
